I am humbled and honored to announce that I have been asked to return to the cast of Joan Joyce when the original musical once again takes the Connecticut stage in October!
I first appeared in this inspiring story when it premiered at the Legacy Theatre in 2021 to a sold-out, extended run. Joan Joyce tells the life story of its titular multi-sport phenom, who broke barriers for female athletes in the 1960s and 70s and amassed a slew of jaw-dropping records in sports as varied as basketball and golf. One of the great thrills of that initial production was getting to meet Joan after one of the performances; even at 81 years old she was spirited and impressive!
Sadly, Joan has since passed away, but the Seven Angels Theatre—a historic regional theatre in her hometown of Waterbury, CT—is reviving the production for a three-week run as part of its mainstage series. I will be returning to the same track, which I anticipate will be not only a fun and nostalgic experience but also an interesting acting challenge. I will also be serving as the production’s dance captain—a title I previously held on the Off-Broadway musical Me the People.
